ZAMDELA – A mob justice turned deadly in Zamdela over the weekend, leaving a 23-year-old man killed and three others behind bars.
This comes after the trio assaulted the deceased on Sunday, December 08, when he allegedly broke into one of the suspects’ homes.
Instead of calling the local police, the homeowner and two accomplices took matters into their own hands.
According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, police received a complaint at about 18:00 about a person who was assaulted.
“The police rushed to the scene, and on arrival, they were pointed to the deceased, who was lying on the ground in the yard,” she said.
Rani said paramedics confirmed the man’s death shortly after.
“The suspects, aged between 24 and 28, were swiftly arrested and are now in police custody. They [suspects] are facing a murder charge and will appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
