Man found murdered near girlfriend’s home
A 27-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the murder.
EVATON.– Residents of a street in Eatonside, Evaton recently woke up to find a crime scene outside.
The Evaton police are investigating a murder that occurred last Tuesday morning in Eatonside Area Two. According to Constable Thulisile Msibi, the gruesome discovery was made at around 9:00 when police responded to a complaint of a murder case.
Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of a 34-year-old man lying on a gravel street near the gate of a residence. The deceased was wearing a black jersey, grey trousers, and black tekkies. He was found facing upwards, with a bottle of Amstel beer and a blood-stained yellow shirt lying nearby.
Blood was also visible on his chest.
Emergency services were called to the scene and declared the man deceased. Investigations revealed that he had sustained a single stab wound to the left side of his chest.
The victim’s friend told the police that he last saw the deceased at a local tavern, where he had been accompanied by his girlfriend. The pair left the tavern with two bottles of Amstel beer, leaving the friend behind. Later, the friend was awakened by concerned community members in Eatonside Area One, who informed him that his friend was lying injured on the street.
When the friend arrived at the scene, he found the victim near his girlfriend’s house, bleeding from the chest and unresponsive. He then went to check on the girlfriend, but her house was locked. The friend then contacted the police for assistance.
When police accessed the girlfriend’s residence, they found blood near the bed, and bloody footprints led from the house to where the deceased was found.
Constable Msibi confirmed that on December 4, a 27-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the murder.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon on charges of murder.
Investigations are ongoing.
