VANDERBIJLPARK – Boom Shake, a nightlife establishment in Vanderbijlpark, has paid R14 000 in student registration fees.
According to the club manager, Mandla ‘Scottish’ Mthimkhulu, their establishment paid for various students who attend the Vaal University of Technology, North West University, and Sedibeng College (Vanderbijlpark campus).
Recently, the club made called on struggling students who need financial relief.
A raffle was conducted following dozens of submissions from destitute students.
“We helped twelve students in total from different institutions based in Vanderbijlpark where most of our audience comes from. We had initially set aside R6000 to help those in need, however, due to the high influx, we raised more funds and coughed up a total of R14 000,” he said.
Scot said they are happy with the success of the initiative.
“We are a people’s club and helping out is our middle name. We are overjoyed to see that students are assisted and can now attend classes,” he said.
“This is only the beginning of what we aim to do for many desperate people. We are obsessed with changing lives, not just bringing fun for our patrons,” he added.
With other projects in the pipeline, Boom Shake’s management said they are going to do more.
“We got other projects in the pipeline such as dignity packs and shoe drives that will be activated as the year proceeds. Doing this will make us happy knowing we are giving back to the same people who support us,” he said.
