Modelling mom among pageant finalists

From being a cheerleader for her modelling daughters, Booi is now part of the modelling world.

VANDERBIJLPARK – From the dusty streets of Bophelong to the world. Nomveliso Booi is now a finalist in Face of Queens with Purpose.

The 47-year-old mother says modelling is in their bloodline. The Bophelong-based mother, wife, and grandmother says she wants to use her journey as a motivation for others.

Speaking to Ster, Booi explained what led her to join the Face of Queens with Purpose.

“My eldest daughter was a top five finalist in the Miss Justice Pageant, and my fourth-born was the second runnerup in the Miss Teen Vaal Pageant 2022. Their achievements and encouragement inspired me to finally pursue my dream of participating in a pageant, something I had always wanted to do from a young age, but never had the opportunity to.”

Booi told the paper that following her motivation, courage led her to join the pageant in September last year.

Sharing her journey so far, the bubbly mom said the proceedings have been worth the hard work.

“Since becoming a finalist in Face of Queens with Purpose, my journey has been challenging and rewarding. This pageant supports community-based projects that uplift disadvantaged and marginalised groups, including the physically and mentally challenged, the needy, and the vulnerable. Being part of this initiative has been a transformative experience that has pushed me beyond my comfort zone in the best way possible,” she said.

Her goal is to develop herself and inspire others to do the same.

According to Booi, modern beauty pageants are no longer just about physical beauty but also about personal growth, empowerment, and making a positive impact.

Advising less confident women, she said: “Life is full of obstacles, but it is up to us to overcome them. When you set your mind on something, nothing is impossible. As women, we need to challenge ourselves, break barriers, and lead by example so that we can inspire and educate the younger generation to be the change they want to see in the world.”
