Passerby discovers lifeless body

MEYERTON – The Meyerton police have launched a murder case docket following the gruesome discovery of a lifeless body along Boskat Street in Valley Settlement. The incident happened on April 25.

According to police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, a passerby alerted the police. Speaking to Ster North, Zazini confirmed that police rushed to the scene, where they met with the complainant, who explained that he was on his way to work when he made the gruesome discovery.

“The complainant said at first glance, he thought the person who was lying on the ground, motionless, was drunk. When he took a closer look, he observed a wound on the back of the man’s head and blood stains on the clothes of the victim.”

Zazini confirmed that the man had sustained multiple injuries. She stated that the motive of this heinous crime is unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

The man was declared dead by Emergency Services and subsequently taken to the Sebokeng government mortuary.

Zazini confirmed that although the man was recorded as an unknown, he was later positively identified by his family members.

“The police are now looking for a suspect or suspects of this crime. Members of the community who may have seen anything are asked to call the Meyerton police on 071 675 7307.”
