VANDERBIJLPARK – More than 600 women came together on Women’s Day for a full-day celebration of wellness, creativity, and connection, hosted by Arts Connected and Vaal Mall on August 9.
The day began with a calming morning yoga session, followed by a “sip and paint” experience, professional makeup sessions, and live music in the evening, creating a vibrant programme that celebrated women from all walks of life.

Ster joined participants for the entire event, capturing the energy and joy of a day designed to honour and empower women. Arts Connected’s creative strategist and director, Thabiso ‘Thabs’ Mosia, said the aim was to design a meaningful, day-long journey that celebrated women holistically.
“We wanted a Women’s Day experience that nurtured the mind, body, and spirit. From wellness activities to personal development and entertainment, our goal was to inspire, connect, and uplift,” he said.

The programme featured an all-female lineup of instructors, speakers, and performers, highlighting women’s voices and talents.
Mosia added that the large turnout showed there was a real appetite for spaces where women could recharge and celebrate themselves.

“We’re encouraged by the response and plan to continue this tradition,” he said.
Participants shared their positive experiences: “It’s important to have spaces where we can come together, relax, and support each other,” said attendee Phumla Fingers.
Another participant, Hlengiwe Mthimkhulu, noted that such gatherings provide valuable moments of reflection and relief, especially during challenging times.
