Emergency crews battle house fire in Vanderbijlpark

A combined effort saw a house in Vanderbijlpark saved from raging flames following mysterious inferno

VANDERBIJLPARK – Several emergency services responded to a house fire earlier today on Drummond Street in CE2.

The home was heavily damaged after it suddenly caught fire under mysterious circumstances.

Emergency teams from Emfuleni Fire and Rescue, ER24, Vaal River Union (VRU) and its First Responder unit, AfriForum Vanderbijlpark, and Black Hawk Tactical all helped fight the blaze.

Makhosonke Sangweni, spokesperson for the Emfuleni Local Municipality, confirmed the incident to Ster.

“Fire and Rescue received several calls about the fire and responded immediately. When crews arrived, they found the fire burning inside the ceiling,” Sangweni said.

Firefighters, with help from nearby residents, were able to contain the fire and prevent further damage, however, the house suffered serious smoke and heat damage.

Sangweni noted that while the structure was damaged, the contents of the house were not affected.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown,” he added.
