VANDERBIJLPARK – The town turned into a glittering hotspot recently as the who’s who of politics, entertainment, and social media gathered under one roof for the official launch of Vaal Day.
According to the organisers of the launch, Vaal Day is a vibrant occasion aimed at celebrating the region’s rich culture, heritage, and community spirit through a music festival.

The all-star gala, hosted at the luxurious Emerald Resort, saw champagne glasses clink, cameras flash, and guests dressed to the nines, ready to mark the beginning of what promises to be an iconic annual tradition.
Taking centre stage was none other than Emfuleni mayor Sipho Radebe, flanked by his entourage, adding political weight to the already dazzling affair.
With food, fashion, and Vaal pride in full display, the launch set the tone for the celebrations to come.

Delivering addresses one after another, the gala wasn’t just about the speeches; it was about the vibe, which saw an after-party at Cappello after the formal launch.
Popular local celebrities lit up the room, with crowd favourites like Mshepepe WaseVaal, Vaal President, Bafana Ba Peke, and Sphangalala among many.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Radebe said, “I want to appreciate this initiative of promoting the Vaal region. We saw that this is important, hence we grace the launch and we will be there to make this day a success,” he said.
Radebe said the region needs such events to ensure that the history remains relevant. Standing in for Emfuleni’s speaker, councillor Rethabile Hlakane said, “We are confident that this event will inspire positive change and make our region more vibrant. We hope to see the people of the Vaal uniting and making this day a success.”
Mshepepe Khambule, who is one of the organisers of the event, said, “We need such events to empower people of the Vaal. We thank 988 for creating such a unique event for our region.” Vaal Day will be held on October 18 at 988 Car Wash in Boipatong
