Transport month engagement carried out

MEYERTON – The Sedibeng Community Safety Forum (CSF), in partnership with the Department of Community Safety and the Midvaal Local Municipality, hosted a Transport Month Community Engagement and Demonstration event at the Meyerton Taxi Rank on October 21.
The event formed part of the national October Transport Month campaign, which aims to promote safer road use, improve mobility, and encourage responsible transport practices across South Africa. It also provided a platform to strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders and raise awareness about local road safety challenges.

Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira emphasised the importance of collaboration between government, law enforcement, and communities to build safer roads and reduce traffic incidents.
MMC for Public Safety and Roads Chantal Gomes, together with ward councillor and MMC for Engineering Reginald Hubbard welcomed dignitaries, partners, and guests, expressing appreciation for their shared commitment to transport safety and community well-being.
Gomes also revealed that Midvaal’s Traffic Department has issued an alarming7 068 fines to drivers for failing to stop at stop streets, underscoring the ongoing need for stricter compliance and awareness.
