ZAMDELA – Sasolburg Highway Patrol Relief A unit arrested a 32-year-old male for possession of illicit cigarettes with a street value of R125 000.

On November 11, at approximately 21:30, members were patrolling along the R82 when they noticed a white Nissan minibus behaving suspiciously.

According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, the vehicle was stopped and searched.

“Upon inspection, police discovered 25 boxes of illicit cigarettes concealed behind boxes of matches,” she said.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of illicit cigarettes.
