VANDERBIJLPARK – Police in Vanderbijlpark continue to add more awards to their award display cabinet.
This time around, the station, packed with dedicated men and women, was honoured with two awards during the 2024/2025 Gauteng Provincial Excellence Award held recently at Velmoré Hotel and Spa in Erasmia on November 14.
Hosted under the theme “unstoppable”, police officers from different stations and departments in the province were honoured for their dedication, and the Vanderbijlpark officers were part of the recipients.
In a statement issued by police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu, announced that their precinct garnered two awards, including Admin employee of the year, and CPF of the year, both as second runner up.
While this showcases the dedication of the men and women in blue from the station, the station commander was left proud.
The Station Commander, Brigadier Phiwe Ndwandwe, has since commended the members who played a vital role in achieving these prestigious awards.
He also outlined the imperative of working together as a team, including relevant stakeholders, and motivated the members to put in extra effort in order to put the station into greater heights.
“This is a sign that we are doing something right and moving in the right direction as a station,” he said.
During the glittering gala, the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, explained why the awards are important for their officers.
“I must indicate that this is one of our reward strategies that we apply. We also have monetary awards, as well as giving recognition in the form of a certificate. We also give medals as a way to recognise people who have worked continuously for decades, as a way to keep our employees dedicated to the course,” he said.
