Four killed in a single-vehicle accident in Vanderbijlpark

Four people, including the driver, were killed after a Toyota double cab lost control and crashed into a tree on Wednesday night.

VANDERBIJLPARK – A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the lives of four people on Wednesday evening after a bakkie slammed into a tree.

The crash happened on Frikkie Meyer Boulevard near Sedibeng College. It is reported that a Toyota double cab carrying six people was travelling southbound when the driver lost control.

While emergency services personnel arrived on the scene, four of the occupants, including the driver, had succumbed to their injuries. They were declared dead at the scene.

Two other passengers survived the crash but sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Speaking to Ster, Vanderbijlpark Police spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu confirmed the incident.

“Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving,” he said.
