The DA has officially announced Peter Teixeira as its mayoral candidate for Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM).
Midvaal is widely regarded as a beacon of excellence and clean governance. Under Teixeira’s current leadership, the municipality has achieved 12 consecutive clean audits and is ranked as one of the most financially stable local municipalities in the country.

DA Gauteng Provincial Leader Solly Msimanga made the announcement in front of a large crowd of supporters and guests. He praised the municipality for its focus on building sustainable infrastructure for the future and for always putting residents first, ensuring adequate service delivery.
During his speech, Teixeira highlighted the tangible results residents can see in their daily lives. He noted that Midvaal maintains a clean, transparent, and accountable government, which has attracted major investment, such as Heineken, Soufflet Malt, Clover, and SA Taxi. These partnerships have brought billions of rands into the local economy and created thousands of jobs.

Teixeira outlined several priority projects for his next term, focusing on dignity and independence, mentioned building formal houses for people living in Mamello. He also wants those from Pilliesfarm to live in dignified housing, with basic services that restore dignity and opportunity.
“We are also working to reduce our reliance on Eskom by exploring renewable energy solutions, so that the people of Midvaal are never held hostage by load shedding or load reduction. We plan to build more water reservoirs to secure the water supply and protect our communities against future shortages.”

Teixeira emphasised continued investment in youth development and skills development for those older than 35, citing that they too deserve better employment opportunities and skills development.
Teixeira concluded by promising to keep strong governance and accountability at the heart of Midvaal’s success.
