Police attached to the Kliprivier SAPS are investigating an armed robbery and kidnapping incident that occurred on December 10, 2025.
The complainant and her friend had stopped near the R59 Kliprivier river area when they were approached by four unknown African male suspects, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Tintswalo Ndhambi reports that the suspects forced the victims underneath the R59 bridge, where they robbed them of their cellular phones and forced them to perform cash send transactions using their banking applications.
“During the incident, the suspects also took control of the complainant’s white Honda Civic. It is further alleged that the suspects instructed the complainant to drive while following another vehicle used during the commission of the crime. The victims were later released unharmed, after which the matter was reported to the police.”

“The suspects were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, and all were reportedly armed with firearms.”
