War on Potholes campaign en route to De Deur
The initiative also includes road grading, stormwater maintenance, and rehabilitation of damaged roads to improve safety and accessibility.
Midvaal Local Municipality’s War on Potholes Campaign is headed to De Deur. An area that the municipality deems as one of its most challenging for road maintenance and repairs.
The move follows significant progress made through the campaign across several areas of Midvaal. The teams recently completed pothole repairs on three major roads identified as priority problem areas.
“A total of 555 potholes were repaired during the reporting period. Pothole repair work will continue on several roads. The Grading Teams completed work on six roads in Walkers Fruit Farms, Mooilande, Riversdale, and Meyerton Farms, helping to improve road accessibility and driving conditions in these areas.”
The municipality says teams will also be deployed across different areas to clean stormwater infrastructure, clear vegetation around culverts, and remove overgrown grass and trees that may restrict water flow and access.
“The contractor appointed by the municipality is currently working on Boundary Road, progressing well with maintenance works on the badly damaged section of the road.“
Midvaal reiterates that it is delivering on the promise made during the launch of the campaign:
“To improve roads damaged by wear and tear, heavy rains, traffic loads, and other environmental factors, while also rehabilitating roads that have reached the end of their lifespan. The campaign is steadily progressing towards this goal, with all teams committed to fulfilling the promise of ensuring reliable and safe roads for all residents.”
