McDonald’s owner-operators who champion growth
Saheed and Sayeeda Nasir's successful and inspirational journey with McDonald's.

For nearly two decades, McDonald’s Owner/Operators Saheed and Sayeeda Nasir have brought to life the belief that “good people make great McDonald’s restaurants.” Their journey from Trainee Managers to business owners stands as a powerful testament to opportunity and how McDonald’s helps shape South Africa’s brightest success stories.
That understanding fuels their deep passion for developing people. When they spotted potential in Dorah Mabula, they didn’t just see a part-time crew member – they saw a future leader. With mentorship and encouragement, Dorah progressed from crew member to shift leader, then to department manager, reflecting the kind of transformation the Nasirs strive to inspire. She’s one of four out of five current Restaurant Managers in their system who began as part-time crew – a powerful reflection of the opportunities within reach.
Their restaurants have become springboards for young South Africans looking to build something meaningful. “When we hire youth, we’re not just giving jobs – we’re starting journeys,” Sayeeda explains. Every new hire represents more than just a filled role – it’s a chance for someone to gain confidence, learn valuable skills, and support their families.
The Nasirs are committed to targeted hiring – identifying individuals with potential, whether or not they have experience or qualifications. They believe in building leaders from the ground up and providing the tools, support, and belief that make growth possible. Developing employees into real business leaders isn’t just a goal – it’s at the heart of how they operate.
Even as they’ve expanded their footprint and introduced new offerings in their communities, people remain their priority. This year, this has included the launch of a significant one – the McCrispy. “More restaurants mean more opportunities,” Saheed notes.
Step into any of their locations, and the energy is unmistakable. Young team members move with purpose and pride, driven by aspirations beyond the present moment. “They keep us young,” Sayeeda laughs, but her smile speaks to something deeper – a shared belief that youth employment is more than a strategy. It’s personal.
As the golden arches continue to shine in their communities, Saheed and Sayeeda measure success not in sales but in lives changed. Their story is a reminder that behind every great business are people who believe in others, and that belief builds futures.
This year, McDonald’s South Africa celebrates 30 years of legacy, and stories like the Nasirs’ highlight the profound and lasting impact the brand continues to have across the country.
