Volunteers graduate from sewing program

Six women who served as volunteers for GTCoC Helplift Network recently graduated from a one-year basic sewing training program.

The Sewing Programme Certificate Function was held on Monday 12 November 2022.

GTCoC Helplift Network says it very proud of Angela Namane, Candice Triesch, Allison Moorcroft, Lizzy Motloung, Xolili Siyaya and Prudence Mokoena who not only finished a one year programme of basic sewing training but also did voluntary work for Helplift.

They served in the Helplift Charity Store and also made much needed clothing items to be handed to members in need, or to be sold in the Helplift Charity Store at affordable prices.

Vivian Makgalemele also joined the group in the last term of the year.

GTCoC Helplift Network said in a statement it wants to thank the facilitators, Tersia Kellerman, Karen Stander and Daleen Lourens who are living GTCoC Helplift Network’s vision: To deliver innovative solutions to help people and communities to become active and self-sufficient.

Angela Namane delivered this message on behalf of the group: “Charity is about giving without expecting anything in return, but donors get intangible benefits. Helping others creates feelings of peace, pride and purpose. These feelings translate into a more fulfilled life. When people experience this positivity, they’re more likely to continue giving and participating in other ways as well. The world is a better place when people have a purpose.”

GTCoC Helplift Network encourages people to find their purpose, become active citizens and make a difference within their communities.

GTCoC Helplift Network thanked Suzette du Toit, Area Manager of Avon, who enabled GTCoC Helplift Network to hand over lovely gifts to all the volunteers and benefactors at a very reasonable price.
