VANDERBIJLPARK. – One of Taljaard Taxis loyal and well-known staff members, Piet Ramoabi (41), was killed in a shooting incident around 02:00 this morning (25 February 2023).

A spokesperson for Taljaard Taxis Management sadly confirmed rumours, posted on Facebook, that one of their drivers was fatally shot.

The spokesperson told Sedibeng Ster this morning that Ramoabi picked up clients at a local nightclub in Vanderbijlpark when an argument erupted between a client and a member of the public.

Ramoabi was presumably shot point blank while trying to help resolve the argument. He had been outside of his vehicles at the time of the shooting. One of the clients was also injured and taken to hospital. Mr Ramoabi worked for Taljaard Taxis since April 2018.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our own. Piet was one of our best; with his gentle character, work ethics and positive approach to life, he will remain in our hearts forever,” said the spokesperson.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
