The incident happened on the R59 near Vaalpark on Sunday.

When ER24 and other services arrived on the scene they found the taxi and light motor vehicle on the side of the road.

“Two passengers were seated inside the taxi while several others were along the roadside,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the patients from the taxi.

Meiring said once released, medics assessed the patients and found that two were in severe condition while eight others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Fortunately, no fatalities were found.”
The patients were treated, and the two seriously injured were provided with advanced life support before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.”
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
