Residents asked to conserve water
Water levels in the Vaal River system dropped from 93.0% to 92.3%.
The Department of Water and Sanitation has appealed to residents to save water because dam levels are falling due to changing weather patterns.
According to the department, the overall storage capacity of the country’s reservoirs stands at 90.7%, a slight drop from last week’s 91.4%.
The department says South Africa is a water-scarce country and therefore the behavior of water users plays an important role in ensuring water security.
Rand Water has also asked water users in Gauteng to follow water restrictions in place in order to conserve water.
This is due to the fact that rising temperatures lead to higher water consumption.
Water levels in the Vaal River system dropped from 93.0% to 92.3%.
In Gauteng, water levels dropped from 96.4% to 95.9%.
