Elderly woman robbed of her SASSA card

Police were alerted to the situation, and upon questioning the tenant, she denied any involvement.

BOIPATONG.- On pension day, March 6, a grandmother residing in Boipatong fell victim to robbery, losing her SASSA pension card.

It is suspected that the alleged perpetrator, a tenant, exchanged the grandmother’s card and even used her pension money to pay rent. On the same day, when the grandmother attempted to access her money, she discovered that the bank card did not belong to her and was not functional.

Police were alerted to the situation, and upon questioning the tenant, she denied any involvement. However, upon searching her, the grandmother’s SASSA card and R 500 were found in her possession.

Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela confirmed that the tenant was arrested.
