Midvaal hosts student beneficiaries

The municipality allocated R750 000 to the programme to address the significant demand for study assistance.

MEYERTON. – The Midvaal Local Municipality hosted twenty-nine (29) recipients of the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme on Tuesday 2 April.
The Municipality launched the Midvaal Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme in January 2024 to provide support for those pursuing higher education qualifications.
The municipality allocated R750 000 to the programme to address the significant demand for study assistance.
Following the vast number of applications received and a thorough review process, twenty-nine (29) students were approved for financial aid.
Students received varying forms of assistance, including tuition, registration fees and other essential study resources such as laptops and books.
The Mayoral Student Financial Aid is a result of the Buang Batjha campaign, during which the municipality engaged with young people across all 15 Wards to discuss the challenges they faced and the solutions they proposed.
The Midvaal Local Municipality said in a statement that the Mayoral Student Financial Aid reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling the Mayoral undertaking of creating opportunities for all and also demonstrates its proactive efforts to realise the promises we made to the residents of Midvaal.
