Masiteng to follow in the footsteps of his legendary grandfather

Masiteng has expressed his eagerness to make a name for himself in commentating, aiming to work for the paid channel DSTV's SuperSport.

SEBOKENG.- Pule Masiteng is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Hlapane Masitenyane, who was one of the legendary Sesotho commentators for Lesedi FM, formerly Radio Sesotho.

Masiteng is one of the most popular commentators, providing commentary at soccer tournaments like the Pooe Festival Tournament, Walter Sisulu Games, and Phil Games, among other popular tournaments held in Gauteng. Sedibeng Ster Sport spotted Masiteng commentating at President Park Stadium in Vereeniging during the Gauteng Development League games between RESA and SuperSport United recently, highlighting him as one of the most gifted Sesotho commentators from the community.

In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport, Masiteng expressed his eagerness to make a name for himself in commentating, aiming to work for the paid channel DSTV’s SuperSport. He mentioned being inspired by his grandfather Hlapane Masitenyane, as well as figures like Thabo Kofa, Tshediso Leballo, Baba Mthetwa, and Thabiso Pakisi.

These individuals, some of whom have retired, were popular Sesotho commentators. Masiteng mentioned starting his commentary journey in 2012 and never looked back. “Ntate Motloung, who was my neighbour encouraged me to pursue commentating. He mentioned that not many people are interested in commentating. I grew up listening to the radio, especially Lesedi FM, and this strengthened my love for commentating,” Masiteng explained expressing gratitude for the platforms provided, which allowed him to showcase his potential.
