Cheznado…an award winning artist from the Free State
The award-winning artist has had international invitations Coast to Coast “Audition” at Miami in USA, in 2020 and Youth Awards “Guest Performers” at Accra City in Ghana, in 2018.
SEDIBENG.- A thunderous cheering can be heard all the way from the streets of Phiritona, Heilbron because of an uprising star Papi Motaung also known as Cheznado, an an award-winning artist.
Cheznado is making waves in the entertainment industry.
Cheznado’s musical journey ignited at a very young age when he joined a school choir at Sediba Thuto, less did he know that could be the start of his musical career.
He recorded his first single “Re Shota ka Wena” with his former group B.L.C Musiq. This song got acknowledgment from abroad on KHXS Radio in Houston, Texas. It was played on Lesedi FM, Kasi Finest, and also on radio stations such as Mozolo, VUT, and Karabo FM.
His music is an amalgamation of ‘educated’ Sghubu and Amapiano, built by his unique singing style. Cheznado’s award-winning song in 2023 “Jwala Bona’ for the best dance at South African Upcoming Music Awards (SAUMA) is available at all the digital stores. It has been played recently onLive100 Wurm Radio (Chicago), Mantsopa FM, Thetha FM, Sedibeng FM, and Dihlabeng FM.
“My song debuted on Lobatse Radio in Botswana on April 27 this year. It always seems impossible until it is done, believe in yourself, work hard, and involve God in all you do,” said Cheznado.
He has performed and shared a stage with the likes of Black Coffee, 2 Point1 Music, Kwesta, and DJ Finzo, on events around Free State and Vaal such as Macufe, HIV/AIDS Benefit Concert, Fezile Dabi Youth Festival, K2K Charity event, FS Beach Party and many more.
Cheznado was nominated under three categories in the South African Upcoming Music Awards 2023 (SAUMA) namely best dance, best kwaito, and best amapiano. He is also a 10-time South African Awards runner-up in 2016, 2018, and 2020 at the South African Upcoming Awards, Fezile Dabi Musical Awards, Mzansi Kwaito, House Music Awards, MAMA Awards, and Pheli Awards.
In April he dropped a much anticipated EP (Extended Play), titled ‘Educated Sghubu’, leading single on the EP and play-listed on Lekoa FM.
