Police search for missing Amkele

The search proved fruitless.

SEBOKENG. – The search for the missing Amkele Myika took a different turn when the police, Sedibeng District Water Wing unit, Thetha FM, and the members of the community were involved during his search last week.

Sedibeng Ster reported last week that Myika went missing on April 18 after he was found stealing from a parked car in Zone 20, Sebokeng and was allegedly assaulted by community members.

Following the alleged mob justice, Myika was never seen or heard from and the family reported him missing. It is said that the family received a ‘tip-off’ from an ‘inyanga’ that they should go look at a stream outside the Masiza Flats where they would find Myika’s body.

The search proved fruitless.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that the family of Myika was also present during the search and were impressed that the SAPS was doing their best in finding their son.

“The Water Wing Unit worked tirelessly in searching for Amkele. The search lasted for almost 2 hours, but the body was never found. The Water Wing Unit will continue with the search in the morning. They have stated that they will involve the K9 Unit to assist in searching for the missing person. The police urge the community members to assist in finding the missing person,” Mokhachane said.
