Katleho Kgobotlo (14) is a promising youngster with big dreams

"I love football, and this is the talent that God gave me to express myself, my joy and happiness."

SEBOKENG._ Katleho Kgobotlo (14) is a promising young soccer star with big dreams to become a household name in South African football.

This Sebokeng Italian Jobs FC midfield maestro was named the Play of the Tournament for his outstanding performance in the final against Vaal Gardens Sports Academy at Mighty Flowers ground in Zone 10, Sebokeng on Sunday. He was instrumental to his team’s success on the day, marshalling the middle of the park like a seasoned player. This earned him the Player of the Tournament Award. This is what he had to say in an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport’s ‘S’khuluma no’ after the game.

Q: Congratulation for being name Player of the Tournament. How do you feel after your outstanding performance?

A: I’m excited because I couldn’t believe my ears when they called my name, to come forward to receive the Player of the Tournament Award.

Q: What inspired you to produce this five star performance and help your team to be crowned the champions?

A: It was teamwork, as much as I received this award, I think the whole team deserves to be Players of the Tournament. In football, we play, win or lose as a team. Look, football is about team work not about individuals and I want to thank my teammates for making me look good especially those I played with in the middle.

Q: What does this means to you as an individual?

A: This can only mean more hard work because I can’t afford to be complacent just because I was named Player of the Tournament. This award means I must work harder  to help my team to win the Emfuleni Development League at the end of the season.

Q: Where you want to see yourself in football?

A: I want to see myself playing for one of the biggest teams in the country and also playing for the national team. This is what I tell myself every day, that my dream is to play in the professional leagues.  I’m working very hard to make my dream to become a reality.
