All roads will lead to Isak Steyl Stadium

"The programme will start with 'beginner boys and girls' who will be competing in the 1km distance."

VANDERBIJLPARK – All roads will lead to the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark for the much-anticipated Athletics Vaal Triangle (AVT) Cross Country League Championship on Saturday.

This good news was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by AVT’s Morena Tsotetsi.

Tsotetsi said the event will see the top runners compete against each other in the following categories: women and men, junior (boys and girls) and veterans. The programme will start with ‘beginner boys and girls’ who will be competing in the 1km distance, followed by U9 and U10 boys and girls in the 2km distance.

However, the main focus will be on the 10km with big names competing against each other.

Tsotetsi said they expect stiff competition.

“We are ready and I believe the athletes are also looking forward to Saturday. The preparations are in advanced stages and all the formalities are done. I have no doubt that we are going to have a successful meeting,” said Tsotetsi.

Meanwhile, Tsotetsi also revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Cross Country Championships are scheduled to take place at the same venue on September 7.
