Stakeholders meet to fight crime in Mamello

“Only males were allowed inside the hall, it was a ‘man-to-man talk’."

SEDIBENG.- The Vaal Marina SAPS together with different stakeholders collaborated in the fight against crime at the Mamello Informal Settlement recently.

Police spokesperson, Constable Tshilidzi De Huis said that the aim of this outreach campaign was to build effective community police partnerships against crime through constructive community participation.

“The objective is to educate the community on issues of prevalent crimes that are increasing daily. Due to the high number of incidents that go unreported, the stakeholders used this opportunity to also encourage the community to report crime incidents.” said De Huis.

The outreach continued at Mamello Community Hall in a form of dialogue where men were able to speak-up about anything (MASP mentoring programme).

“Only males were allowed inside the hall, it was a ‘man-to-man talk’. The campaign was a success because the community asked for the next mentoring programme to be conducted again soon,” De Huis concluded.
