SEDIBENG.– The Vaal Marina SAPS together with their social auxiliary worker conducted a door-to-door campaign in the Mamello Informal Settlement last week.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Constable Tshilidzi De Huis said that the following issues, that mostly concern their policing precinct, were addressed:

• Domestic violence
• Crime against women and children
• Vulnerable groups
• Children’s rights

De Huis added that elderly people were also visited to make sure they are taken care of. The campaign continued at Sakhisizwe Day Care where kids and teachers alike were reminded of children’s rights.

About fifty people were addressed in total and the same number of pamphlets was also distributed. Meanwhile, a gender-based violence (GBV) campaign was held the following day that included Siyabangena Patrollers at the Mamello Clinic.

“The campaign continued from Mamello to the Vaal Marina urban area through street interventions where GBV-pamphlets were distributed to those we couldn’t be reached at the clinic.”
