Zondo sends a strong message to the referees
There is still room for improvement especially starting the league on time.
SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Development League season is expected to come to an end in two weeks’ time.
This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) head of development, Master Zondo.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the league matches over the weekend, Zondo said according to MYSAFA the league is expected to finish at the end of October. Zondo said he was pleased with how the season went. However, he told Sedibeng Ster Sport there is still room for improvement especially starting the league on time.
“I think we can do better, especially when it comes to paying affiliation fees on time because this is my concern. We are not supposed to start the league before everyone pays the affiliation fee. These are some of the things that we must improve in the new season,” said Zondo.
Zondo was also full of praise for the four stream coordinators for their hard work, and for submitting results on time. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the coordinators from the four streams are doing an outstanding job. Zondo sent a strong message to the referees who are not prepared to come down to officiate at the development leagues. He claimed that the referees are only interested in officiating in the Super League and Hollywoodbets Regional League.
He believes the development league must be treated with respect like other leagues in this region. Meanwhile, there was action galore all over Emfuleni at the various venues on Saturday and Sunday. The four streams namely, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, Sebokeng and Evaton were seen in action. Sedibeng Ster Sport captured the youngsters expressing their God-given talent. The Vanderbijlpark stream coordinator, Joseph Dhlamini, said they are expected to wrap up the league programme very soon.
“We are in the advanced stages of finishing the league on time because we remain with a few games to complete our league programme,” he said.
