Mob justice murder in Sebokeng
The victim, who was wearing black pants with no shirt, had red marks on his body and multiple head injuries.
SEBOKENG.- Police are investigating a murder case following the death of a man believed to be a victim of mob justice on Saturday, October 12.
According to Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, police spokesperson, police received a complaint of mob justice and proceeded to the scene where they discovered the lifeless body of a man lying on the ground. The victim, who was wearing black pants with no shirt, had red marks on his body and multiple head injuries.
“Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased was attacked by a group of community members after allegedly stabbing another individual in the area. The man, identified by residents as 47-year-old Lesotho national, Motsamai Modibedi, was residing in the Sonderwater shacks. His exact address and the whereabouts of his next of kin remain unknown. The body is currently at the government mortuary.”
Mokhachane said that the police do not condone mob justice.
“We urge residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Anyone conducting a citizen’s arrest should do so without causing harm.”
