SEDIBENG.- Sedibeng Netball Federation President Fakazile Nketsing lauded the regional netball teams for their outstanding performances recently.

This was after the Sedibeng Netball Teams – U21 and seniors – finished in seventh and fifth place respectively at the Spar National Netball Championships that came to an end at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg.

The event saw thousands of participants from 52 districts across the country competing for the championship. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Nketsing said the performance of the Sedibeng teams improved compared to last year. She said the Sedibeng senior netball team was just unlucky not to reach the final after they were beaten by a goal difference. Nketsing was full of praise for both teams for putting together a strong squad that represented Sedibeng with distinction. She said they may not have reached the finals, but performed well throughout the tournament.

“We are really proud of our teams, because there was much improvement compared to last year’s championships. I must say the technical personnel did a great job to prepare both teams for this tournament. You could see the commitment from the players from the first game until the last one,” said Nkitseng.

Traditionally held in August to celebrate Women’s Month, the national tournament was postponed this year due to the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
