VGSA victorious at Pooe Festive Tourney

"Our priority is development and to keep these youngsters occupied throughout the festive holidays."

EVATON. – While the focus was on the senior teams, Vaal Gardens Sports Academy (VGSA) was crowned the Pooe Festive Tournament champions in the junior category.

VGSA made history when they were crowned tournament champions in both the U13 and U15 categories. The tournament gave junior teams a platform to showcase their talents playing in front of big crowds. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Pooe Festive Tournament Coordinator Nhlanhla Mashishiwane said it was a great experience for these youngsters to play in front of such an intimidating crowd.

“For all these years junior soccer teams have been part of the Pooe Festive Tournament. The tournament is not only about senior teams as people might think.  I’m happy with the support we received from the junior teams that play under our local football association. We have a good relationship with the junior soccer teams.”

Mashishiwane told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the Pooe Festive Tournament benefits football development in Sedibeng even though there are no sponsors. The champions received soccer kits and soccer balls.

According to Mashishiwane, the tournament was a good advert for local football development.
