Weather service warns of thunderstorms

SAWS said the thunderstorms will occur with saturated soil and an additional 15-30mm of rain.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of thunderstorms that have the potential to become severe with heavy rain and strong winds in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

On Thursday, SAWS said the thunderstorms will occur with saturated soil and an additional 15-30mm of rain.

This is likely to cause localised flooding in susceptible low-lying areas and bridges, falling trees due to strong winds and localised service disruption due to power surges.

In addition, there will be poor driving conditions due to pooling of water on roads and reduced visibility can also be expected. Trees may also fall due to strong winds. – SAnews.gov.za
