RESA Ladies sets eye on league promotion

"We want to play in the Sasol Women's League which is more competitive for our players to gain more experience."

VEREENIGING.- Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA) Ladies FC is already hard at work in preparation for the Gauteng Women’s Development League for the 2024/2025 season.

This team had an impressive season finishing in a respective position on the log with both divisions, U14 and U16. Both teams finished fourth in the league.  Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, RESA Ladies Team Head Coach, Solly Lekooana said they want to challenge for the league title. He confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that the aim is to play in the Sasol Women’s League. Lekooana said this coming season they will be playing with U16 and U15 and U17 in the league. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they will be recruiting new players to challenge the league to add to the current squad.

“I must say last season we had a good run in the league and finishing fourth was remarkable because we had a young team. I do not doubt that this season we are going to do much better to challenge the league title. We want to play in the Sasol Women’s League which is more competitive for our players to gain more experience. We have already started with our preparations to show how serious we are. I was happy with our performance last season and I believe we can do much better than last season. But at the same time as much as we want to win, we also want to develop more girl child players,” said Lekooana.

RESA Ladies held their own against strong opponents like Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Tuks Ladies who proved to be strong opponents in the Gauteng Women’s Development League last season. These two teams finished at the top and second, respectively, in the league last season.
