MEYERTON – In a plight to ensure that schools remain a place of safety for pupils, adopt-a-cop officers from the Meyerton policing precinct visited various schools as part of the school safety campaign rollout.
The campaign is informed an MOU signed by the SAPS and the department of Basic Education. Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi explains that schools that were visited schools that have been adopted through the adopt-a-cop program.
Moloi says, “These partnerships have been established and sustained to enable the school management to have a designated police officer as a point of contact to access the services that the school need from the police station.”
On the first day of school, the team ensured that all schools in Meyerton opened without any interruption.
The officers spoke to learners and sensitised learners on the dangers of bullying, substance abuse, dealing in drugs, carrying dangerous weapons as well as gangsterism.
Furthermore, officers wished pupils well on their studies in the year 2025.
