VANDERBIJLPARK.- There were strange activities before the SAFA Sedibeng Regional Hollywood Bets League match between Vaal Milano FC and SUBS FC at Cecil Oldridge Park on Saturday.

The game kick-off had to be delayed by 30 minutes while the municipality workers were busy cutting and marking the field. The game was supposed to start at 13:00.

As if this was not enough, the game was forced to play without centre lines seeing that it would delay the next game that was supposed to start at 15:00. This game was also behind schedule. It was a doubleheader with Ben Ten FC and the Perfect Academy match after Milano FC and SUBS FC. The match officials told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this match was not supposed to have been played considering the field conditions.
However, the two teams pleaded with the match officials that they didn’t mind playing without a centre line as long as the eighteen boxes were marked.
“It was up to the visiting team to protest but they didn’t have a problem with what transpired before the game,” said the match officials.
Vaal Milano FC beat SUBS 3-0. It was not an exciting game to watch but the home teams looked much better compared to their opponents. Milano FC created several scoring opportunities but failed to convert them into goals. Their decision-making in the final third left much to be desired. Both teams are struggling in the league and they look like relegation candidates at the end of the season unless they start collecting maximum points against competitive opponents.
