Mohloli’s Matric learners embark on educational excursion to Gqeberha

The learners observed that the Port of Port Elizabeth primarily handles automotive transport, as well as ship container transportation.

SHARPEVILLE.-  Mohloli Maths, Science & ICT School of Specialisation – Maritime School recently took marine science matriculants on an educational excursion to Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth).

The tour aimed at broadening their knowledge of marine science. On the first day, the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) extended a warm welcome to the students, followed by a research expedition to the wetlands around the area. The school said that during this outing, the students collected temperature data and identified several species native to the area.

“The experience proved to be both enriching and enjoyable for the learners. On the second day, we were invited by Transnet SOC Ltd to tour one of their largest ports, where they demonstrated to our learners how they operate within the ports.”

The learners observed that the Port of Port Elizabeth primarily handles automotive transport, as well as ship container transportation.

“Maritime plays a significant role in ship transportation and our economy, making it beneficial for them to experience this firsthand at the port.”
