United’s goalkeeper saves the day

Credit must go to his goalkeeper coach for pushing him hard at training.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Kgoleng Ratisane was outstanding between the poles when Sekhukhune United beat Polokwane City 2-0 in the DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) match.

This encounter took place at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday.

This was the second win in a row for United after they beat Orlando Pirates in the previous encounter thanks to Ratisane. Ratisane once again was on top of his game against City and made some brilliant saves to deny City scoring opportunities. Ratisane is United’s first-choice goalkeeper after the departure of Bongane Nkoane who is on loan to Milford FC. Ratisane was the main reason United walked away with two points against City.

This was the same performance that saw United beat Pirates 2-1 in the previous encounter.

The game went to interval with United leading 2-0. In the second half, City came up with a better game plan forcing United to defend with their back against the wall, but was denied by Ratisane’s brilliant goalkeeping. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after this outstanding performance, Ratisane said credit must go to his goalkeeper coach for pushing him hard at training.

“I have been working hard at training with our goalkeeper coach and my game has improved a lot since the beginning of the season. In fact, as a team, we have improved a lot compared to when we started. It is a new team altogether,” said Ratisane.
