Vaal model heads to LA
Mokoena received a call back from IMTA to represent her brand in New York later this year. The Beauty Therapy student highlights that education has been instrumental in shaping her into the person she is.
Freelance model Mpho Quewen Mokoena (21) is part of the South African team set to represent the country in Los Angeles in July at the World Championships of Performing Arts.
Mokoena specialises in commercial modelling, runway modelling, and pageantry. She started her modelling journey in 2015 and has worked hard to hone her craft, achieving key milestones highlighting her commitment and passion for the modelling industry.
Some of Mokoena’s accomplishments include being named the grand champion of the female modelling award at the South African Championships of Performing Arts, as well as being recognised as an overall commercial model, ranking in the top 20 commercial models at the 14th International Arts Talent Showcase.
Additionally, Mokoena received a call back from IMTA to represent her brand in New York later this year. The Beauty Therapy student highlights that education has been instrumental in shaping her into the person she is.
“Education has broadened my perspectives, instilled discipline, and made me a high-achieving individual. Notably, education has also played a pivotal role in my modelling career. It has equipped me with the skills, confidence, and industry knowledge necessary to succeed.”
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mokoena says she needs the community’s help to achieve her dream of going international.
“I am seeking financial support and sponsorship to ensure I can participate in this pivotal competition. This event will allow me to grow my career, expand my network, and represent South Africa internationally.
