Captain Fortuin led the operation to disrupt criminal activities, increase police visibility, and enhance community safety.

The Barrage police, along with other law enforcement agencies, on Wednesday conducted an operation targeting areas identified as crime hotspots.

During the operation, police searched 23 individuals, eight vehicles, and two premises.

Captain Fortuin led the operation to disrupt criminal activities, increase police visibility, and enhance community safety.

Police spokesperson Sophia Gaboutlwelwe said police followed up on intelligence regarding plots suspected of being used for illegal activities, including stolen property, drug-related offenses, and unlicensed firearms. As part of crime prevention efforts, officers also conducted:

  • Patrols in five hotspot areas
  • Visits to four ATMs, four filling stations, and four schools
  • Five stop-and-search

Gaboutlwelwe says the Barrage police remain committed to ensuring the safety of residents through proactive policing efforts.

“These operations play a vital role in crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and law enforcement visibility”.
