Three nabbed during rural safety operation
The arrests were made following a multidisciplinary Rural Safety Operation by the SAPS in conjunction with the Sedibeng Essential Infrastructure Task Team, security companies, and community organisations on March 13 at Mooilande.
VEREENIGING. – Three suspects are due in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court for possession of housebreaking implements, possession of dangerous weapons, and bribery. Two of the suspects are further facing charges of being illegal immigrants.
The arrests were made following a multidisciplinary Rural Safety Operation by the SAPS in conjunction with the Sedibeng Essential Infrastructure Task Team, security companies, and community organisations on March 13 at Mooilande.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela said the operation aimed at eradicating damage to infrastructure and stock theft.

“During the operation, the drone patrol unit identified a suspicious vehicle, which was stopped and searched. While searching the vehicle, officers discovered a crowbar hidden in the front bonnet and a wrench under the engine compartment upholstery. A 9mm PAK blank gun with one round was discovered hidden under the front seat cushion.”
Maxambela added that a third suspect was a parolee for business robbery and theft.
“The suspects were immediately taken into custody pending further investigation.”
Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho said the success of the operation demonstrates the commitment of the SAPS and its partners to enhance safety in rural areas and combat crime.
