On February 27, the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) sector in South Africa witnessed an inspiring event. The CSI Legacy Awards 2025 took a significant step toward recognising outstanding contributions to social impact.
With a total of 190 entries, the competition was intense, leading to a rigorous selection process that scaled down the nominees
to the most deserving finalists.
Within the prestigious category of Best Social Enterprise, the Vaal Triangle’s Lusa Community Chest, represented by Veronica Kietzmann-Cronje, proudly secured a spot in the final top three out of 45 entries.
The finalists across five award categories – Best Corporate, Best NGO, Best Rising NGO, Best Woman in CSI, and Best Social Entrepreneur – have captured the attention of industry leaders.
Finalists were judged by a distinguished panel carefully evaluating each finalist to determine the category winners. The judging process ensured fairness and credibility, with submissions anonymised and evaluated independently by experts in CSI and social impact.
This year’s ceremony was held at Ster-Kinekor in Rosebank, offering an exclusive and intimate cinema-style experience. Under the theme Africa in Concert, the event celebrated 30 years of democracy while envisioning the next 30 years of positive social change.

“Lusa’s nomination in the Best Social Enterprise category at the CSI Legacy Awards 2025 is a testament to its innovative approach and unwavering commitment to social change. Through strategic partnerships, visionary leadership, and sustainable impact, Lusa has demonstrated that meaningful transformation is possible,” says a spokesperson for the Chest. “The CSI Legacy Awards are not just about recognition; they are a platform for inspiration, collaboration, and the pursuit of a better future.”
