Dum-Zar Diski Knack aims to uplift local footballers

“This initiative is to help those teams who don’t have sponsors because we all know how difficult it is to run a club with no budget."

SEDIBENG.- Dum-Zar Diski Knack (DDK) is on a mission to uplift upcoming local footballers through a soccer tournament.

This non-profit organisation hosts soccer tournaments during the holidays and over long weekends.

The purpose is to keep young people from destructive habits such as crime and drugs while promoting sport as a social cohesive measure. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Dumisani Mdaka, the founder of DDK, said they offer football equipment to deserving local disadvantaged teams through the help received from sponsors, including companies and individuals who are Good Samaritans.

“This initiative is to help those teams who don’t have sponsors because we all know how difficult it is to run a club with no budget, especially at this level. We want to reward those individuals doing a great job in the community through sports. We try our best to make life easy for football development in our country because our focus is not only in Gauteng, but throughout South Africa.”

Dum-Zar has been hosting tournaments throughout the country.

“Some of the provinces that we visited include North West and Mbombela. This is the commitment we made to ourselves as DDK to serve those from the poorest of poor communities,” said Mdaka.
