Two behind bars after police chase
Police seized 32 rounds of auto ammunition, 12 rounds of live ammunition, and a plastic bag full of cash. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
VEREENIGING. – Two suspects were apprehended following a police chase. While conducting their patrol duties, the police in De Deur, in conjunction with the Crime Prevention Unit, arrested two Ethiopian nationals for being undocumented, possession of illicit cigarettes, and possession of illegal firearms.
“Members of the Crime Prevention Unit encountered a suspicious male in possession of illicit cigarettes. Upon approaching the suspect, the male started to run away, prompting our members to give chase. Police eventually caught up with the suspect at a residence in Roshnee,” police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola confirmed.
While police were busy searching the house, another male was discovered in one of the bedrooms holding a firearm in his hand. A second firearm with an extended magazine was found on him.

De Deur SAPS acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Anver Hammond, applauded the members and said they should continue working hard to rid the streets of illegal firearms.
