SEDIBENG. – Young Pirates FC appears to be on track to defend their league title at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

As things stand, Pirates is at the top of the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywood Regional League log.

Last season, the latter was crowned the overall winners and represented Sedibeng at the Inter-Regional Play-offs for the ABC Motsepe League promotion.

However, the club failed to gain promotion after their effort to win their stream title and become the overall winner for SAFA Sedibeng Hollywood for the 2023/2024 season.  Earlier this year, Pirates represented Sedibeng at the Nedbank Cup preliminary but failed to go further in the competition like VUT FC did three seasons ago. VUT FC made history when they reached the Nedbank Cup last 16 when they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.

This was a remarkable achievement for Sedibeng football, having a team that finished in the last 16 of this prestigious tournament from this region. This is something that the region will cherish for a long time. Back to Young Pirates FC, the club overtook Perfect Academy at the top of the log. At the start of the season, Perfect Academy looked like they were in control at the top, but they slipped along the way.
