Is a DA–FF Plus coalition on the cards in Midvaal?
The Freedom Front Plus is positioning itself as a potential coalition partner for the DA in Midvaal.
The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) is positioning itself as the best political party to join a coalition with the DA, should it lose its majority vote in Midvaal Local Municipality after the November 4 elections.
Announcing on Monday, FF Plus Gauteng MPL and provincial leader Jaco Mulder said there is significant uncertainty, adding that the elections could change the political landscape in the Midvaal Local Municipality. Mulder said selecting the right coalition partner will be decisive in determining the municipality’s stability and service delivery.
Speaking to Ster North, Mulder said the FF Plus would help bring clean governance and service delivery to all the various areas under Midvaal, ensuring that all residents benefit.
The FF Plus conducted visits to Kromdraai as well as Walkerville, where residents said that they were not getting adequate services from the current governance.

“Although Midvaal performs well in certain areas, there are still communities where the level of service delivery leaves much to be desired. The residents of areas such as Walkerville and De Deur, among others, deserve to have their local challenges addressed.
“Sound governance should be a reality for every single resident, no matter where they reside. The party brings a unique value system to the table, grounded in Christian principles, community responsibility, self-determination and accountability.”
FF Plus Ward Councillor Candidate in Ward 7, Justice Makhado, says various challenges need to be addressed in Walkerville.
“There needs to be more engagement and communication between government and the people it serves. We promise to listen to the community and heed their call for better services.”
Makhado said urgent attention needs to be paid to Midvaal areas such as Kromdraai, where there is a lack of proper sanitation and pit toilets are being used.
“These are inhumane conditions, and residents should not be living like that. We need to do better for our residents collectively.”

The FF Plus believes that every coalition should be founded on a written governance agreement, measurable performance targets, financial accountability and a concrete improvement programme. The party wants to protect what works, address shortcomings and ensure that residents get value for their municipal money.
Mulder urged Midvaal voters to vote for the FF Plus, citing that a stronger mandate will boost the party’s ability to promote responsible coalition governance, better service delivery and greater accountability.
