EVATON.- A murder and and house robbery case is being investigated by the Evaton police.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that on Wednesday April 16 at about 13:30, the police received a call from about a house robbery and murder at Palm Springs Section K, and on arrival at the house, they found the kitchen door closed, and the burglar proof door was opened, not locked.

“They found a deceased man who was lying on the floor facing downwards inside the seating room. He was covered with a white duvet cover all over his body, and his feet were not covered. The complainant removed the duvet which was covering the deceased and only to discover that there was another big blanket underneath the duvet which was wrapped around the head of the deceased. The blanket that was covering the head was tied with the electrical cord that was used to tie the hands backwards and feet together using the same electrical cord . The house was in disorder and ransacked,” Msibi said.

The deceased is said to have been staying alone in the house, and was last seen on Sunday, April 13 .

Msibi added that the deceased, a 73-year-old man was found inside the house by neighbours who went to look for him as they did not see him for a long time.

“They went on Tuesday, April15 but they did not enter the house,  and he was not found. On April16 (the following day), the neighbours went again and noticed there was a leaking pipe from the bathroom to the outside drain .The witnesses kept knocking at the door and saw that the kitchen door was not locked. The burglar proof door was not locked and got inside the house and discovered the deceased. The bedroom aluminum window was opened, and it did not have burglar proof. The deceased was decomposed, bleeding on the face, had blisters on his back.”

A murder case is being investigated and no suspects have been arrested.
