Car crashes through palisades after vehicle hits potholes

Neglected and deteriorating roadway allegedly led to the accident

VEREENIGING – An accident that occurred in Arcon Park on the afternoon of May 11 has shed light on the condition of the roads in this area.

A motorist lost control of his vehicle and crashed through a palisade fence after hitting a pothole in Zea Avenue.

According to information provided by local security company Sekuriteit Sonder Grense, the incident occurred at 16:50.

The company’s control and response units responded to the scene after receiving a call about the accident.

The car veered off the road and crashed through the palisade fence of a residential property before coming to rest in the garden of the property.

No injuries were reported at the scene. Members of the security company assisted in securing the scene and ensuring safety.

Images from the scene show significant damage to the fence, and the vehicle coming to rest on its roof inside the property.

Although the cause of the incident is being investigated, the poor condition of the road appears to be a contributing factor.

Residents of Arcon Park have previously expressed concern about the deteriorating condition of roads and the number of potholes in several streets.
