Take precautionary safety measures during this season: Sebokeng SAPS warns
Three suspects knocked on the door, and when the victim asked who it was, they shouted that it was the police.
SEBOKENG. – The ‘chilly’ season is upon us, and with it comes along a lot of criminality.
The Sebokeng police plead with the community members to take precautionary safety measures during this season. The police said that this is the season where the community members are likely to receive business burglary, burglary residential (house breaking) business robbery and house robbery cases.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that they urge community members to always be alert and not to disclose any personal information or their movements in public as this puts them in a vulnerable situation as criminals tend to change their crime trends, and the recent trend is whereby they pose as police officials.
On Saturday, May 17, three unknown suspects committed house robbery in Zone 13, Sebokeng, just after 19:00.
It is alleged that the three suspects knocked on the door, and when the victim asked who it was, they shouted that it was the police. After he opened for them, they pointed him with firearms and further stole items known to the police.
“The police urge the community members to blow a whistle, text in their respective area WhatsApp groups and call a neighbours so as to gather more information, to check the registration number of the vehicle. The public is also urged to call Sebokeng SAPS to verify if the alleged police officers or the vehicle in use is from Sebokeng SAPS,” Mokhachane said.
